This post is all about books to read in 2025.

Do you love to read? Well, so do I, but reading in the past year has been really hard for me. Between transitioning from being a full-time college student to being a full-time working adult, finding the time and motivation to read has been SO HARD. So, I am writing this post to kind of hold myself accountable and also share some of the books that I think should be on your TBR for 2025.
I guess I will tell you a bit about what I like to read. I used to only exclusively read romance and a bit of fantasy, but as I have gotten out of college and into life a bit, my tastes have changed. I am now more interested in self-help and personal growth books. However, do not get me wrong, I still love a good romance book, but I want to balance a little bit of growth with some guilty pleasures.
So, this list is going to contain a little bit of everything that I want to read this year, and I hope it gives you some ideas of maybe some books to add to your TBR.
Let’s get into it.
Romance
I will start out with the fun things I want to read this year. As I said, this used to be all I wanted to read, so I have developed quite the collection of romance books I need to read. Therefore, the goal for these books is to read some books I already have.
- Happy Place by Emily Henry: Bought this as soon as this came out and it has just sat on my shelf and collected dust.
- Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez: Heard great things about this author
- Chestnut Springs Series by Elsie Sliver: I own one or two of this series, so do technically own these lol.
- Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren: Another one that has been on my shelf for a longgg time.
- Deep End by Ali Hazelwood: This is the only book on this list I do not own because it is a new release.
Romantasy:
I also really like fantasy series, but I cannot really do fantasy without a little romance. So, I really enjoy romantasy, and this year I want to read some of the big fantasy series.
- Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J Maas: This is one I have tried to read for years. I have always tried to read this on break from school, but I never seem to give myself enough time to finish the whole series. As a result, I think I have read the first book 3 times and the second book twice. So, the goal is to actually finish the whole thing now. It is like 7 books, so it is definitely an undertaking.
- A Court of Thrones and Roses (ACOTAR) Series by Sarah J Maas: Along the same lines, this is another very popular series by Sarah J Maas that I want to read. I actually have never started this series. So, this is one I am super excited to start!
- Fourth Wing Series by Rebecca Yarros: Once again, another very popular series that I feel I need to read to understand the hype. I actually have already started this book, and so far, I really like it!
- Harris Potter Series by JK Rowling: So fun fact about this series: I have owned this series for like 8 years, and I have yet to open them, and I even have a special edition series, lol. So, I am making it a goal to finally open these and read them.
- Powerless Trilogy by Lauren Roberts: This is a series I have heard great things about, so I wanted to add it to my TBR. So excited to read it this year!
Self Help:
In the current stage of life I am in, I am always trying to think of ways I can be more productive and make my life better. So, I have really gotten into self-help books, and I honestly have bought a lot but have not read any of them. So, for this section, I really tried to shop my own bookshelf for these books that I plan to read this year.
- Atomic Habits by James Clear
- The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone
- The 5 AM Club by Robin Sharma
- The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
- The Ideal Team Player by Patrick Lencioni
- Lean In by Sheryl Sanders
- The Confidence Code by Katty Kay and Clarie Shipman
- Radical Confidence by Lisa Bilyeu
- How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
- What To Say When You Talk To Your Self by Shad Helmstetter
- Breaking Free From Broke by George Kamel
- You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero

Bonus Books
So, I am a Christian, and I want to make it a point that I am reading a few books about Jesus this year. These books are some that I also have had on my bookshelf for a while, so these are 5 books I would like to read this year. There is a common theme with one of the authors, but she writes some books that I think would really resonate with, and I think that is because the season of life that I am in and some of the things I need to hear and learn right now.
- Untangle Your Emotions by Jennie Allen
- Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen
- Find Your People by Jennie Allen
- Single, Dating, Engaged, Married by Ben Stuart
- Good Boundaries and Goodbyes by Lysa TerKeurst
How am I actually going to read all of these books?!?
So, I have put a lot of these books on this list. How exactly do I plan to read all of these? I am, unfortunately, a pretty busy person. I have a full-time job, a part-time job, this blog, and then trying to have a social life on top of all this. But I do have a couple of ways I am planning to try to read all of these books.
- Habit Stacking: So, I want to try to read on the treadmill. I am also trying to add more movement to my life, so I think this is a great thing I can do for myself to be able to read but also get moving.
- Audiobooks: This is a new one for me, but I have never had really long drives before now. So now that I have a 20-minute drive to work, I want to utilize my time in the car.
- Reading Before Bed: I am trying to make my night routine include 30 minutes of time where I just get to read. This keeps me away from doom scrolling on my phone. So, I am trying to integrate this into my routines.
This is probably not the perfect plan, and I am sure I will not always meet my goals on reading times every day, but it is a start. I currently read little to none every day, so even 20 or 30 minutes is an accomplishment for me!
Conclusion
So, that is all 25 books I want to read in 2025 and how I plan to make time for reading in the hustle and bustle of a busy life. I know it definitely seems very ambitious—trust me, I feel you! But I also know that with some intentionality and dedication, it’s absolutely possible. Whether it’s squeezing in a few pages during my morning coffee, listening to audiobooks during my commute, or winding down at night with a good story, I’m excited to make reading a bigger part of my routine this year.
If you’re looking to read more in 2025, I hope this post helped you discover a book or two to add to your own list! Reading is such a great way to learn, grow, and escape into different worlds, even in the midst of a packed schedule. And honestly, there’s nothing better than getting completely lost in a story after a long day.
So, tell me—what’s on your 2025 TBR? Are you setting a big reading goal this year, or just hoping to get through a few must-reads? Drop your recommendations in the comments—I’d love to hear what books you’re excited about!

I love Atomic Habits, I read it about once every 6 months. I don’t like the 10X book, though; it felt like Grant just talked about himself for most of it. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post! I really appreciate your insights I will let you know what I think of the 10x book, I have heard mixed reviews for sure. However, the positive have raved about it!
Adding many of these to my list as I tackle a winter reading challenge with our local library.
Yay! I am so glad to hear this, Kristina! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post and comment! I really appreciate it!
How to win friends by Dale Carnegie is a great one I read. It wasn’t written recently but it’s so helpful and still applicable to todays society. Definetly recommend it to anyone
Thank you so much, Kirby! My dad actually bought me that book and he said Well this is an old book, but I am sure it still applies to my today, so I am glad to hear it goes! Really appreciate you taking the time to read this post!
Woo! Reading is great. I read a lot of the self help books when I was doing my masters – Dale Carniege is great. You got this. I like to read in the mornings and at night – that helps me get in extra reading time. Thanks for sharing your TBR list for 2025 – Ash 🙂
YES, reading is so great! Self-help is still a bit new to me, so I am glad to know some of my picks are highly thought of! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, Ashleigh! I really appreciate it!
I have the 5 AM Club sitting in my TBR pile. I’m excited to read it! Thanks for some other great ideas. I’m always looking for new books to read.
I am listening to the 5 am club on audiobook right now, and it is so good! Definitely a different type of book! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post! I really appreciate it!
I’ve tried to read Atomic Habits twice and just can’t get into it. But I’ve heard great things about Let Them so will add this to my list. Thanks for all the great recommendations.
I have definitely heard that about atomic habits, but I am excited to start it cause I feel like SO many people do love it! Glad you found one book to add to your list! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, Lisa! I really appreciate it!
You’ve picked out a nice mix of books to read in 2025. I have read a few of the self-help books on your list, and of those, I really enjoyed Atomic Habits and The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck. A couple of others I tried to read but found they didn’t work for me. I will have to check out some of the others on your list. I love reading before bed, but it can backfire if it’s a really good book – then I stay up far too late.
So glad to hear good feedback about some of the books of this list! I am super excited to dive into them! Glad you found at least a couple of books to add to your list! I am a couple of days into the reading before bed, and currently I am struggling to stay awake for the full 30 minutes lol. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, Sarah! I really appreciate it!
I’ll have to check these out more carefully as reading 12 or more books is on my goals list this year! 🙂
That is a great goal! This list is definitely ambitious for me as I only read like 5 books last year, but I think I can do it! Glad you found a couple of books to check out! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, Laurie! I really appreciate it!
My goal for this year was to read more before bed as well. Avoid that doom scroll! Thanks for a great list to go off of!
YES, have to avoid the doom scroll! I have been doing it for a couple of days so far and I am already sleeping better! So glad you found a couple of books on this list to check out! Here is to reading much more in 2025. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, Eva! I really appreciate it!
