Hey y’all. It’s been a minute.
I didn’t mean to disappear from the blog—life just got a little busy. Between juggling work, trying to stick to new habits, and figuring out what “balance” even means, posting on here kind of slipped to the bottom of the list. And honestly? I think that’s okay. So, I figured it was time for a little life update for y’all!
Sometimes life demands your full attention, and that’s not always a bad thing. But I’ve missed writing here. I’ve missed having a space to reflect, share, and feel a little less alone in the chaos.
I’ve been thinking about what I actually want this blog to be moving forward. I still want to talk about construction and figuring out life in my 20s, but also just share the small stuff—what I’m reading, what I’m learning, what’s working (and what’s not). I also want to be a little more transparent about how I’m trying to make myself better, whether that’s sticking to fitness goals, budgeting, or just showing up for myself more consistently. So here’s a little life update to catch things up and ease back into it.

Work/Construction Update
Well, I’ll start with the most exciting update I have about work, and that is: I GOT PROMOTED! 🎉
While I’ve only been at my job for about 10 months, I did get a little promotion. To be honest, my job hasn’t really changed a lot in terms of day-to-day responsibilities—I still do most of the same stuff I did before—but now I just kind of handle some bigger problems and higher-level issues. Overall, the promotion is a bit more pressure and definitely a lot of learning curves.
Work has been crazy, though. In my last posts, my job was just beginning steel erection. Well, as of April 12th, 2025, we’ve officially topped out! This means that our building has reached its highest point, and our celebration is coming up on April 25th, 2025. I’ve had a pretty large hand in planning that over the past couple of weeks. I’ve had to order all the food, coordinate vendors, and even design our project t-shirts, which lowkey was a lot lol. Word to the wise: if you are ever in charge of designing apparel, design two ideas. Do not put all your eggs in one basket, because if something doesn’t work out, you’ll be scrambling last-minute.
Aside from that, I’ve taken on the role of lead engineer for finishes, so a lot of my time lately has been spent working closely with our finishes subcontractors. I’m reviewing their submittals, coordinating their scopes with other trades, and trying to solve as many issues as we can now, before they become emergencies later.
A big part of this has been coordinating a ceiling mockup for our client. They’re not entirely sold on the ceiling system the architect specified, so we’re building a mockup to help them visualize how it looks and functions. This has been a whole process—mostly because the client is not really clear on the system and how it works and they do not know enough about to feel confident without seeing a mockup. Most of the design team and my team are confident that this system is the best solution, so now we’re just working through those client concerns and trying to guide them toward what we know is a solid, long-term option.
That’s the bulk of what’s new at work. I’ve been pushing myself to walk the site twice a day, which is so much harder than it sounds—but incredibly important. Things change quickly out there, so if I am not out there consistently, I will miss so much for sure.
Adulting & Life Stuff
There have been a lot of changes here.
My boyfriend and I have now been together for 7 months! It’s honestly been the best 7 months of my life. Things are starting to get serious—we’ve started having the bigger conversations about what the future might look like, and it’s both exciting and terrifying in the best way. Our relationship is definitely my biggest priority right now, because he’s someone I genuinely see a future with.

A close second? Becoming a better version of myself.
I’ve never really been the “fit” or sporty type, but I’ve realized I need to take better care of my body, not just to lose weight, but to feel better. To be stronger. To not feel winded after walking up stairs. It’s the little things, you know? Lately, I’ve been going on walks with my boyfriend or hopping on the treadmill while reading. I’m aiming for 10,000 steps a day. I don’t hit it every day (my Apple Watch can confirm), but I usually land somewhere between 6,000 – 8,000. That’s progress, and I’ll take it.
I’ve also gotten a lot more intentional about what I eat. I’ve meal prepped every week for the last three months, which feels wild to say out loud. I still don’t love the cooking or cleaning part, but I do love not having to figure out dinner after a long day. It’s been especially manageable because my boyfriend and I do it together. We plan, prep, and split the work. It’s saved us both time, money, and unnecessary stress.
Another habit I’m working on? Waking up at 5 a.m. every weekday. Some mornings it’s a breeze, and others I’m dragging. But when I do get up early, I feel so much better—less rushed, more grounded. I have time to do a little workout, shower, drink my coffee slowly, do my skincare, and just breathe and have some slow time before the day starts sprinting.
Reading Update
Books have always been my happy place. It is one of the only things I have found that helps slow down my overthinking anxiety mind. And trust me, I need as much of that as I can get. So, I’m really trying to make more time for that right now, especially in the chaos sometimes.
So far this month, I’ve finished two books, which may not sound like a lot, but I’m counting it as a win.
Here’s what I’ve read so far:
- The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins (SO good, highly recommend—especially the audiobook!)
- Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
- And I’m currently about 60% through Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
Time to read is hard to come by. Some nights I am so sleepy that reading two pages is impossible but other nights I’ll read for 45 minutes and be fine. But I’m trying to make it a goal to read for about 15-30 minutes every night before bed. It helps me wind down, keeps me inspired, and gives me something to look forward to.
Wrapping It Up
So, that’s where I’ve been. Just trying to keep up, do better, and stay grounded through the chaos.
Coming back to this blog after a little break reminded me how much I love it. It’s my space to reflect, share, and maybe even help someone else feel a little more seen. Whether I’m talking about steel beams or skincare routines, I want this to be a space where life is shared honestly and openly.
Going forward, you can expect a couple of posts a month—from construction updates to life reflections, habit tracking, favorite reads, and everything in between. I’ve got some really exciting ideas I’m working on for the blog too, so stay tuned!
Thank you for sticking around and reading this whole thing—it really means more than you know. 💛
